Disney has another live-action reboot of an animated title in the works. The character Gaston from “Beauty and the Beast” may finally be getting his long-gestating film. Dave Callaham (“Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse”) is writing the script with Michelle Rejwan producing.
A script for this movie was previously written by Kate Herron and Briony Redman (“Doctor Who”).

Gaston first appeared in 1992’s animated version of “Beauty and the Beast.” The character is an arrogant hunter with a crush on Belle, which causes him to go after her love interest, The Beast. The movie got a live-action reboot in 2017 with Luke Evans playing the role. However, it does not seem like he will be reprising it for this upcoming feature.
It’s being reported that Disney wants to take this version in a different direction with “swashbuckling” tones.
No director or cast is attached at this time.
We will keep you posted on updates about the live-action Gaston movie as the project develops.
