Power Up Your Christmas Tree with this Super Mario Bros. Star!

If you’ve ever enjoyed playing Super Mario Bros., then you probably know the iconography. Things like the 1UP mushroom or the grow mushroom are some of the things you need to keep yourself in the game. And, one of my favorite items is the Star. With the star you can become invincible and nothing can touch you!

I recently picked up the Mario Super Star Tree Topper from Fun.com, and it has quickly become one of my favorite holiday decorations. The star measures around 9 inches, and is made with good quality plastic. It’s functional and light which makes it easy to balance on top of the Christmas tree. One thing I’ve found disappointing over the years is a lot of toppers are made for real trees, so they’re heavier than a fake tree can handle. This topper is just right, and if you fold over the top branch of the fake tree, it grips nicely and doesn’t shake.

The Star topper is electric so that means no battery replacement. If you have a light strand you can plug it right in. If your tree is pre-lit however, it does make it a little harder. I was able to find a green extension cord and kind of hide it so that I could plug in the topper.

The light emitted is a nice bright (but not too bright) light. It’s more of an ambient touch and does not take away from the rest of the tree.

The best part for me is that the Star represents games I enjoy and is well-known enough that my kids recognize it as well. It even sparked a game of Mario Kart with the kids which was nice!  It feels playful and nostalgic, especially for fans of Nintendo. It’s officially licensed which is a must for any fan of Nintendo.

If you want to power up your Christmas tree you can pick one up here. Here’ s hoping the star works its magic and makes my tree invincible from my cats trying to play with it constantly!
