So Warner Bros. is still in the middle of a lawsuit with Michael Crichton’s estate over “The Pitt.” The show stars Noah Wyle, and aims to be a realistic examination of the challenges facing modern-day health care workers in a Pittsburgh hospital. Tthe show bears striking similarities to the medical drama “ER,” including its star and several members of the creative team. Crichton’s estate, which holds the collective copyright to “ER,” filed suit and attempted to block “The Pitt” hitting the air at all.
Warner has unsuccessfully tried to have the case thrown out twice. And now HBO chief Casey Bloys is inviting yet another “ER” alum to join the show, George Clooney. Because the two series apparently weren’t similar enough.

With all this public legal drama, jokes have been flying about just making the show an exact copy of “ER.” Adding popular actors from the series like Clooney doesn’t help HBO’s case, really.
Of course, this all got back to the actor, who told Entertainment Tonight he’d “do that in a heartbeat.”
“I saw [that interview] as well,” Bloys told The Hollywood Reporter. “Obviously, sure, he’s welcome.” But he was careful to note that nothing was in the works just yet.
Despite everything, “The Pitt” was renewed for a second season. It comes to TNT on December 1st. Until then, it is streaming exclusively on HBO Max.
