Streaming giant Netflix has added another exciting upcoming series to its roster. The company’s UK arm has officially opened up the writers’ room for “Dangerous Liaisons.” The show is backed by BAFTA-winner Nicôle Lecky (“Mood”), Emmy nominee Drew Comins’ Creative Engine, and Fifth Season.
The series is based on Pierre Choderlos de Laclos’ 1782 French novel “Dangerous Liaisons,” which was previously adapted into a 1988 film. This upcoming version will be set in modern-day London.

Laclos’s novel centers around Marquise de Merteuil and Vicomte de Valmont, aristocratic ex-lovers. To amuse themselves, they embark on a twisted game of seduction and manipulation. Merteuil challenges Valmont to seduce an innocent convent girl while he also chases a virtuous married woman. Eventually, the consequences of manipulating these people begin to unfold, and they are more deadly than anyone could have imagined.
Written just a few years before the French Revolution, it explores themes of power, wealth, race, and romance among the British ruling class.
We’ll keep you posted on updates about Lecky’s “Dangerous Liaisons” series as it develops.
