In 2023, “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” hit theaters and was an instant box office hit. Today, during Nintendo Direct it was announced that the much anticipated follow up is titled, “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie!”
This animated film will be based on another hit game from the franchise, 2007’s “Super Mario Galaxy.” The title was announced in celebration of the “Super Mario Bros.” video game’s 40th anniversary. Having hit shelves on September 13th, 1958.

A teaser video for the title gives us a feel for the animation style for “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.” It starts off with Mario sleeping under a tree as the camera pans up to outer space. Then a brief shot of Monty Mole burrowing underground, before we cut to Cheep Cheeps swimming in a stream, and Toads scurrying around Princess Peach’s castle. Before revealing the title to the upcoming film.
The first movie tells the story of two Brooklyn plumbers, Mario (Chris Pratt) and Luigi (Charlie Day), who are transported to the magical world of the Mushroom Kingdom. Mario joing forces with Princess Peach (Anya Taylor-Joy), Toad (Keegan-Michael Key), and Donkey Kong (Seth Rogen) to save Luigi from the evil Koopa King Bowser (Jack Black).
And this all-star voice cast will be returning for the sequeal.
