There has already been some buzz around the movie “The Pirate,” written by Will Dunn (“The Peasant,” “Ms. Marvel”). And now that Jason Momoa (“Minecraft,” “Dune“) and David Leitch (“How to Rob a Bank”) may be on board to produce, there is about to be a lot more. The project was recently acquired and is currently being developed by Amazon MGM Studios.
Leitch and Kelly McCormick are in negotiations at this time to produce for their 87North banner. Momoa is, of course, negotiating under his On the Roam banner. Momoa may be in talks to star as well, with Leitch directing.
This early into development, plot details are firmly under wraps. However, it’s being described as “The Raid” set on a pirate ship.
