Earlier this month, it was revealed that season 4 of Netflix’s “Monster” will focus on Lizzie Borden. Neither Netflix nor series creator Ryan Murphy officially confirmed subject, but it was looking pretty concrete that the children’s rhyme subject and murder suspect was going to be the featured person of interest. Yes, season 4 will center on Lizzie Borden, and we know who will play her.
Maybe it’s that rhyme about the ax and the whacks, but it’s easy to fall into the trappings of referring to Lizzie Borden as an axe-wielding murderer. Whether she actually committed the murders of her parents, Andrew and Abby Borden or not, she was legally found not guilty of them. As we pointed out before, it makes her an interesting subject for “Monster,” since she’s the only subject of the series who did not commit a crime. Maybe that will come into play as we see Borden brought to life by relative newcomer actress, Ella Beatty.

Beatty worked with Murphy on FX’s “Feud: Capote vs. The Swans.” Beatty played Kerry O’Shea, a companion of Truman Capote. (She attended Juilliard, and is the daughter of Annette Benning and Warren Beatty.) This will be her first starring role, and she certainly found herself in some big shoes to fill.
She’ll also be joined by Rebecca Hall, who will be playing her stepmother, and Vicky Krieps, so says Tudum.
As of the time of this writing, the third season of “Monster” has yet to air but will tell the story of Ed Gein, who will be played by Charlie Hunnam. Seasons 1 and 2, which told the stories of Jeffrey Dahmer and Menendez brothers Erik and Lyle respectively, are currently streaming on Netflix. We’ll let you know what else we hear about this and other news.
