“South Park” Creators Call Paramount-Skydance Merger ‘S***show’

“South Park” creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have never been known to mince words about their thoughts. When season 27’s premiere was delayed 2 weeks, due to issues with the Paramount-Skydance merger, they gave an on-brand response.

    “South Park”

“This merger is a shitshow and it’s fucking up ‘South Park,’” reads the duo’s post on the show’s X account. “We are at the studio working on new episodes and we hope the fans get to see them somehow.”

Comedy Central has been the long-running home for the animated series. The network’s parent company, Paramount Global, announced in July 2024 that it would be merging with Skydance Media in a multibillion-dollar deal. However, like most big mergers, this one is taking a while to finalize due to pending approval from the Federal Communications Commission.

And like other big mergers, these backend issues are causing issues with the content these companies produce.

At this time, neither Paramount nor Skydance has responded to Parker and Stone’s comments.

The 27th season of “South Park” is currently slated to debut on July 23rd. Instead of it’s original June 9th priemer date. You can check out the trailer and read the full statement below:
