The “Star Wars” universe keeps on getting bigger and bigger, doesn’t it? It’s just been confirmed that Mia Goth (Guillermo del Toro’s “Frankenstein”) will co-star with Ryan Gosling (“The Fall Guy”) in “Star Wars: Starfighter.” This latest addition to the franchise is directed by Shawn Levy (“Deadpool & Wolverine”).

While details are mostly under wraps right now, we do know a few things. This will be a stand-alone film, not connected to any of the Skywalker Saga. “Starfighter” will be set roughly 5 years after the events of 2019’s “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.”
“This is a stand-alone,” Levy said during Star Wars Celebration in Japan in April. “It’s not a prequel, not a sequel. It’s a new adventure. It’s set in a period of time that we haven’t seen explored yet.”
Several sources report Gosling will play a hero who must protect his nephew from evil pursuers. Goth will reportedly portray one of those evildoers.
“Star Wars: Starfighter” is expected to begin production in England this fall. It is currently slated for a May 28th, 2027, release. We’ll keep you posted on updates about this project as it develops.
