Did you know that Emmy-winning actor and New York Times bestselling author Nick Offerman (“The Last of Us”) is also a highly skilled woodworker? No, really! You can check out the Offerman Wood Shop website and everything. He’s just announced a new book on the subject, “Little Woodchucks.” In it, he shares family-friendly projects for kids as young as five, while also including plenty of options for older kids and beginner adults.

Offerman’s previous book “Good Clean Fun” showed readers how to make some of his favorite projects paired with personal reflections on woodworking. As the name implies, “Little Woodchucks” aims to be a more age-inclusive experience. For this new book, he partnered with Lee Buchanan to bring audiences 12 all-new projects they can make at home.
This book combines Offerman’s trademark sense of humor with clearly written and illustrated instructions. These building activities include:
- Carved animals, wooden slapstick, spinning top, and wooden whistle for ages 5 to 7.
- Kite, toolbox, log truck, and sawhorse for ages 7 to 10.
- Wooden tongs, bench, pie station, and meat locker/little free library for ages 10 and up.
“Little Woodchucks” will hit shelves on October 14th, 2025. You can pre-order your copy here.
