HBO has announcing casting of three of the main characters for their upcoming television series adaptation of “Harry Potter.”
Arabella Stanton will play Hermione Granger, Dominic McLaughlin will play Harry, and Alastair Stout will play Ron Weasley.
“After an extraordinary search led by casting directors Lucy Bevan and Emily Brockmann, we are delighted to announce we have found our Harry, Hermione, and Ron,” showrunner Francesca Gardiner and series director Mark Mylod said in a statement. “The talent of these three unique actors is wonderful to behold, and we cannot wait for the world to witness their magic together onscreen. We would like to thank all the tens of thousands of children who auditioned. It’s been a real pleasure to discover the plethora of young talent out there.”
The trio joins the already confirmed cast including Janet McTeer (“Ozark“) as Professor Minerva McGonagall, Nick Frost as Hagrid, Paapa Essiedu (“The Capture“) as Professor Severus Snape, Luke Thallon as Professor Quirinus Quirrell, Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch, and John Lithgow as Headmaster Albus Dumbledore.

The series is expected to begin filming sometime soon. We’ll let you know what we hear about this and other news.
