Filmmaker Kevin Smith (“The 4:30 Movie”) has been battling a copyright nightmare for decades over his 1999 comedy “Dogma.” In October of last year, he regained the rights from disgraced producer Harvey Weinstein, opening the door for a long-awaited sequel and home media re-releases. Early this morning Smith did fans one better and announced “Dogma” would be hitting theaters again!

“Dogma”
“Bless me, Father – for I have cinema! I’m ecclesiastically ecstatic to announce that DOGMA is getting a religious re-release on JUNE 5th in theaters all across the U.S. and Canada,” Smith posted on Instagram.
Iconic Events is partnering with Smith to celebrate the 25th anniversary of “Dogma”’s release and his slaying of Goliath. Entertainment marketing agency Bond even crafted a new poster and trailer that makes “our old adventure feel like a much more modern movie!”
But before “Dogma” hits theaters again on June 5th, Smith will do Q&A screenings at 20 AMC Theaters across the US. Those special screenings will kick off on Easter Sunday. “Blessed are they who come in the name of the tour when I bring #Dogma to Los Angeles, San Diego, Phoenix, Seattle, Minneapolis, Chicago, Kansas City, Dallas, Houston, Boston, NYC, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Tampa and Orlando, before wrapping up at @smodcastlecinemas in New Jersey – the sacred state where the movie is set! (If you don’t see your state represented, don’t worry: we’ll be adding stops to the tour in advance of the June 5th opening!),” Smith adds
“Thank you to everyone who kept the faith all these years; you’ve sustained me during the long crusade to resurrect my movie! Praise the Lord and pass the popcorn for the second coming of Dogma,” he closes with his usual sense of humor.
