Apple TV+ has been making waves for itself with some astounding original series. The biggest one as of late has been “Severance,” but there’s also “Silo,” “Shrinking,” “Ted Lasso,” and “Foundation,” just to name a few. There is also the upcoming “Chief of War” series, telling the story of the unification of the Hawaiian islands.

One of the elements to this series that makes it so unique is the inclusion of a Polynesian cast. Jason Momoa who will be joined by Maori actor Temuera Morrison. Momoa needs little introduction given his roles as Khal Drogo and Aquaman, amongst others. Morrison played Momoa’s father in “Aquaman,” and is also known to “Star Wars” fans as Jango and Boba Fett.

The series will detail the unification of Hawaii as colonization loomed over the islands is a story that hasn’t really been told before on a scale of this size. Apple TV+ has set the series at nine episodes, with the first two premiering together on August 1st.
Apple’s original programming has a pretty strong track record and it looks like “Chief of War” is going to continue that trend. Any chance for Momoa and Morrison to reunite on screen is a positive thing as well. Now we just have to wait with baited breath for a trailer drop.
