“The only way to truly be safe is to be the only one left.” An ominous opening line for the “Yellowjackets” season 3 trailer. But given the rest of the footage, it looks like it’ll deliver.

The SHOWTIME series follows a high school soccer team who survives a plane crash in 1996 only to be stranded in remote wilderness for 19 months. Their quest for survival leads them to resort to cannibalism. In the present day, these remaining members try to deal with the trauma and solve some decades-old mysteries.

L-R: Silvana Estifanos as Teen Britt, Sophie Thatcher as Teen Natalie, Jenna Burgess as Teen Melissa, Jasmin Savoy Brown as Teen Taissa, Sophie Nélisse as Teen Shauna, Anisa Harris as Teen Robin, Liv Hewson as Teen Van and Samantha Hanratty as Teen Misty in Yellowjackets, episode 5, season 3, streaming on Paramount+ with SHOWTIME, 2025. “Yellowjackets” Season 3

Season 3 will pick up with the 1996 timeline of surviving the brutal winter of season 2. As summer sets in so does distrust in leadership and tension within the team, risking their chances of rescue. In the present day, long-buried secrets from the team’s pasts begin to surface. They are left fighting for their lives all while questioning what their fellow survivors are really up to.

Most of the first trailer’s footage is focused on the past with Drowning Pool’s “Bodies” providing an almost too-on-the-nose score. We see flashbacks of the departed Jackie (Ella Purnell), who was the first to be devoured by the group. These clips are surrounded by footage of chatting and manic teens prepared to hunt.

Season 3 will welcome back Melanie Lynskey, Christina Ricci, Tawny Cypress, Lauren Ambrose, and Simone Kessell. Along with Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher, Samantha Hanratty, Courtney Eaton, Liv Hewson, Kevin Alves, and Steven Krueger as their younger counterparts. Warren Kole, Sarah Desjardins, and Elijah Wood will also be reprising roles with newcomers Hilary Swank and Joel McHale.

“Yellowjackets” season 3 will premiere with two episodes on February 14th (Valentine’s Day) on Paramount+ (for those with a SHOWTIME package), before a linear premiere on February 16th at 8pm.
