Paul Rudd, Jack Black “Anaconda” Gets 2025 Release

It’s beginning to look a lot like Snakemas, everywhere you go. Rumors have been swirling for a while that Paul Rudd (“Ant-Man”) and Jack Black (“Dear Santa”) were attached to a comedy called “Anaconda.” On December 20th, the duo made it official via a video posted to social media.

In the announcement video, the pair also confirms a Christmas Snakemas 2025 release date.

“Anaconda” will be directed by Tom Gormican (“The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent”) from a script he co-wrote with Kevin Etten (“Workaholics”). It will not be a traditional remake of the 1997 film of the same name starring Jennifer Lopez, which follows a crew for National Geographic.

Like “The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent,” Gormican’s “Anaconda” will be incredibly meta. It will focus on a group of friends who are facing midlife crises who set out to remake their favorite childhood movie. But when they head into the jungle, things take a serious turn.

At this time, specifics about Rudd and Black’s roles are being kept under wraps. However, Black did confirm: “It’s gonna be a big fucking snake and it’s gonna rip!”

On the other hand, Rudd pitched it more as a film for everyone. “You wanna get scared? You wanna laugh? You wanna celebrate with your friends?” he says. “Or maybe you’re alone and sad and have nobody, but just wanna forget about that? It’s coming out on Christmas in 2025.”

The two continue to jump around and hug, clearly excited about the project. Before Black leads Rudd off camera into the other room to see their reptilian co-star eat a donkey.

“Anaconda” will hit theaters on December 25th, 2025. You can check out Rudd and Black’s announcement video below:
