Academy Award winner Denzel Washington could be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). While it hasn’t been officially confirmed by the studio, the actor has kinda sorta announce he will star in a possible third “Black Panther” film.
“I’m only interested in working with the best — I don’t know how many more films I’m going to make, probably not that many,” Washington told “Today Show Australia.” “I want to do things I haven’t done.” He then lists off a few upcoming projects, including a “part in the next Black Panther.”
Even though Marvel hasn’t officially announced “Black Panther 3,” company head Kevin Feige has had “conversations” with writer-director Ryan Coogler about a third film. Washington would also be the perfect choice considering his connection to the late Chadwick Boseman, who played the titular character in the previous films.
The two were very connected. Washington helped pay for Boseman to attend an acting program at Oxford University. In kind, Boseman encouraged Washington to propose to his wife, Taylor Simone Ledward.
We’ll keep you posted on updates about a “Black Panther 3” as they become available. You can catch Washington in “Gladiator II,” which hits theaters November 22nd.
