Did you know that Wayne Enterprises has turned into a real company? Yes, the Bruce Wayne-owned, Gotham City business has been given a real-life branding as a luxury item retailer. Looking through their website reveals a bunch of completely unnecessary and overpriced items that just scream, “buy me to show other people how rich you are.”
And if that’s your kind of thing, awesome. But amidst the pianos, shoes, and watches sits another item of interest; the Batmobile from Christopher Nolan‘s take on the Caped Crusader. Yes, the Batmobile known as the Tumbler.

Now, we’re not talking about a model of the vehicle. This is a full-size, functional car, that is fully drivable aside from the fact that it is nowhere near street legal. But if you’re Batman, who cares? It’s hard to get clearance for something with a mock jet engine and gun turrets to cruise on down the street in. But aside from that, it’s a real version of the Tumbler, and there’s only 10 of them being made. If it seems ludicrous, well, it is, but it’s even more ludicrous once you find out the price for it is $2,990,000.

You know, that’s an interesting price point that brings up some questions. Why $2,990,000 and not just 3,000,000 even? We’re assuming that if someone has the cash to buy it at that cost, the extra 10k really isn’t going to be a bother. Did someone actually figure out that the exact cost of $2,990,000 was the actual peak profit point? Was there the discussion of, “Well based on parts and assembly, we can’t charge $2,900,000 and make it fairly even number, we need that extra 90k to break-even on this thing at least.” Seriously, what IS the break-even point on the Tumbler?
As for what this baby is capable of, well, it has two seats, a digital performance dashboard, air conditioning, and a one-way mirrored glass screen. It’s already not street legal so why not make it impossible to see who’s driving it? Just to really make the cops that much angrier. Then again, there’s only going to be 10 of these being sold, so it probably won’t be too hard to track down the owner if the police see it going out for a joyride. It also has a Powertrain 6.2L LS3 525 HP Engine with 486FT Ibs Torque. If you’re a gearhead, maybe that will mean something to you.

If you’re hungrier for this thing than Bane looking for some Venom then you can arrange a potential purchase by heading to the Wayne Enterprises website. It’s all part of an effort to celebrate Batman’s 85th anniversary and this is certainly one way to do it. Even if Michael Douglas Keaton‘s Batmobile was better.
