From the team that brought you “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey” and the upcoming “Bambi: The Reckoning” and “Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare” comes the latest addition to the Poohniverse, “Pinocchio: Unstrung.” Which is about, you guessed it, everyone’s favorite honest marionette going on a killing spree. You can check out the first poster for it below:
This will be the newest film in Jagged Edge Productions’ line-up of horror movies based on public domain IPs. Like the previous installments of the Poohniverse, Rhys Frake-Waterfield is directing.
“The film will embrace practical effects at every opportunity, ranging from the doll itself to the title card of the film,” Frake-Waterfield told Bloody Disgusting. “Having a budget significantly higher than my last film, Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2, I’m aiming to make this the definitive Pinocchio horror film and my best movie to date. Exciting cast announcements will follow shortly!”
Filming is expected to begin this October with legendary FX artist Todd Masters (“Child’s Play”) among the crew.
ITN Studios and Premiere Entertainment will be trying to sell “Pinocchio: Unstrung” at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival. Currently, the film is expected to release sometime in 2025. We’ll keep you posted on updates about this project as it develops.
