A24’s marketing team has struck gold yet again! A new poster for the romantic drama “We Live in Time” has gone viral… as a meme. The poster features stars Florence Pugh (“Dune: Part Two”) and Andrew Garfield (“Spider-Man”) during a happy moment on a carousel.

The thing is, they are standing behind what is possibly the most terrifying carousel horse since the 2016 movie “CarousHELL.”

    The Movie

“We Live in Time” tells the story of Almut (Pugh) and Tobias (Garfield). Through snapshot, we see them from their first meeting to falling in love, to starting a family together. Sounds heartwarming right?

Well, the internet will be the internet.

The poster shows the couple laughing while enjoying a romantic carousel ride, in what seems to be an early moment in their relationship.

not just a coincidence lol pic.twitter.com/3yuezABCtC

    The Meme

In front of the happy couple, the head of a carousel horse can be seen, and while it’s not unusual to be creeped out by these motorized equines. This one seems to be going out of its way to look satanic. The horse’s eyes are bulging and soulless, and its mouth is agape as if stuck in a perpetual scream of agony.

People immediately took notice of this horrific vestige in this otherwise adorable shot and ran with it.

Even “Late Show” host Stephen Colbert got in on the fun. “Look, I’m gonna say what we’re all thinking,” he said during his Wednesday night monologue. “That pony is tripping balls on ketamine.”

We had to relive this emotional trauma and now you do too.

Some say this must have been a huge oversight for A24’s marketing team. However, we are 110% convinced they knew what they were doing and knew this would get way more traction online. We just hope that translates into ticket sales.

“We Live in Time” hits theatres on October 11th.
