On October 28th, “Friends” star Matthew Perry was found deceased in the hot tub of his L.A. home. At the time, it was ruled an accidental overdose, and traces of the drug ketamine were found in his system.
In May, a joint drug investigation by LAPD and federal authorities into the source of the ketamine he took was launched. Law enforcement sources have revealed one individual was arrested, with 5 others named. Search warrants have been served to the several other individuals being investigated. Federal charges have also been filed against many of them, with one person reportedly having a medical license.
Perry’s death was initially thought to be from cardiac arrest. However, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office found it was due to “acute effects of ketamine.” It is believed that the actor was undergoing ketamine therapy to treat depression and anxiety at the time.
“At the high levels of ketamine found in his postmortem blood specimens, the main lethal effects would be from both cardiovascular overstimulation and respiratory depression,” read the medical examiner’s toxicology report.
We will keep you posted on updates about this situation as it develops. Our thoughts are with Perry’s loved ones and we hope they get some form of justice.
