To say that the first season of “Squid Game” took the world by storm is the understatement of the century. Netflix has just released the first teaser trailer for the series sophomore season and we’ve already gotten one big reveal. Lee Jung-jae will be reprising his role as champion and sole survivor Seong Gi-hun.

The 30-second clip is mostly a barrage of faceless players in green tracksuits. Each has a number on their back that increases until we get to #456 who exposes they are Seong.

    “Squid Game”

Season 2 of “Squid Game” takes place three years after Seong’s victory. He has decided not to go to the US and see his daughter. Instead, he is re-entering the twisted survival game with a new resolution to get to the bottom of its mysterious origins. His time approaching the games more seriously.

    Legacy

Season one of “Squid Game” shattered records at Netflix. It became the streamer’s most popular show ever with 1.65 billion views in the first 28 days of its 2021 premiere.

Creator Hwang Dong-hyuk became the first Asian person in history to win an Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series. Jung-jae also became the first Asian man to win Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, and the first to win it for a non-English show.

And we do sincerly hope that these accolades and views translate into everyone being fairly compensated for this season.

Season 2 of “Squid Game” will premiere exclusively on Netflix on December 26th. You can check out the first teaser below:
