We’ve got some good news for fans of homicidal animatronics. “Five Nights at Freddy’s” star Matthew Lillard has confirmed that the movie will begin shooting in October! It seems that rumblings about production delays leading to the project stagnating in development were unfounded.
“I’m doing a TV show right now. I’m doing FNAF in October,“ Lillard said during an interview with the YouTube channel JayBee & Milly. Earlier in the same interview he also took the time to address rumors of a “Five Nights at Freddy’s” crossover.
“Scooby-Doo” Crossover?
On May 16, Lillard posted an image of himself to Instagram. In the photo, he is dressed in a “Five Nights at Freddy’s” costume with his arm around a Scooby-Doo statue. “December 2025. I ALWAYS COME BACK. #fnaf,” the caption reads.
This image sparked rumors of a crossover between the franchises since Lillard also starred in several “Scooby-Doo” adaptations.
“Never be those two [it] is not a match up anyone wants or needs, no,” he explained. “Jim Henson does the costumes for both and it was too great of an opportunity to pass up. My social media went crazy with almost millions of hits or something. So that was fun. I thought that fans of both franchises would get a kick out of it.”
So as cool as the picture was, it wasn’t an announcement, just a golden opportunity.
“Five Nights at Freddy’s 2” is set to release on December 5, 2025. The first film is currently streaming exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.
