We’ve got some good news for fans of “The Chronicles of Riddick” franchise! Star Vin Diesel has confirmed that “Riddick: Furya,” the long-awaited fourth film, has begun shooting. Diesel starred in the first film, “Pitch Black” released in 2000, and the sequels 2004’s “The Chronicles of Riddick” and 2013’s “Riddick.”

As well as voicing several animated films/shorts and video games based on the character.

    “Riddick: Furya”

Diesel recently shared a post on Instagram, and despite the countless “Fast and Furious” jokes, the set and outfit SCREAM Riddick. He also captioned it “Furyan Friday,” with Furyan being a reference to one of the four elder races in the universe.

The footage shows Diesel standing on The Volume, a production tool used to create backgrounds for scenes. However, filming isn’t set to officially start until August 26th. So it was initially assumed these are all just pre-production antics.

A few hours later Diesel posted a video of himself; “I’m going into a pre-production meeting on Riddick,” he says through a grin. His expression clearly shows how excited he is to begin shooting the new film. And fans seem to be right there with him.

    The Plot

Franchise staple David Twohy will return to direct and co-write the script with Riddick veterans Jim Wheat and Ken Wheat. The fourth film will take place more on the titular characters’ home planet than in previous installments. Unfortunately, it’s a place he barely remembers and fears might be left in ruins. But when he finds other Furyans, they are fighting for their existence against a brand new enemy.

There is no set release date for “Riddick: Furya,” just yet. We’ll keep you posted on updates about the project as it develops. All three feature-length, live-action films are currently streaming on Starz.
