The Olympic Games have been in full swing in Paris since the opening ceremony on July 26th. While it is always a who’s who of all-star athletes it’s not uncommon for notable figures from television, film, or music to make an appearance. Actor Tom Cruise (“Top Gun”) has already been spotted at a few events and now it’s being reported he may be a part of the closing ceremonies.
The Closing Ceremony
While details for the Olympics’ closing ceremony is always a closely guarded secret. It is known that Karen Bass, the Mayor of Los Angeles, will receive the Olympic flag from Paris’ Mayor Anne Hidalgo. “Expect a major Hollywood production,” a ‘well-positioned source’ told Deadline.
It is believed that Cruise will be literally dropped in during the exchange between the current host city and 2028’s. At this time, NBC Sports has declined to comment on Cruise’s involvement, or any other details about the closing ceremony.
The 2028 Summer Olympics will be held in L.A. from July 14th until the 30th. L.A. previously hosted the Olympic Games in 1932 and 1984. Currently, it’s assumed that the city will use the Coliseum to host the event since it was built for the 1932 Games.
You can catch the closing ceremony for the Olympic Games, with or without Cruise, on August 11th.
