Netflix’s adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s beloved comic “The Sandman” is heading into its second season with several fresh faces among the cast. It will reportedly focus on the fan-favorite storylines “Season of Mists” and “Brief Lives,” from the source material.

“In the next chapter of The Sandman, the King of Dreams will come face-to-face — and go toe-to-toe — with the formidable rulers of Hell, Asgard, Faerie, and the realms beyond,” showrunner Allan Heinberg said.

    “Season of Mists” Cast

Ruairi O’Connor (“The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It”) will play Orpheus, the only child of Dream (Tom Sturridge) and the muse Calliope (Melissanthi Mahut). Freddie Fox (“The Great”) will play Loki, the god of chaos, with Clive Russell (“Game of Thrones”) as his brother, Odin. Laurence O’Fuarain (“The Witcher: Blood Origin”) will play storm God and son of Odin, Thor.

Ann Skelly (“The Nevers”) is cast as Nuala, with Douglas Booth (“The Dirt”) as her polar opposite brother Cluracan. The duo are royal emissaries from the court of Faerie who agree on nothing but their devotion to each other. Jack Gleeson (“Sex Education”) will play Puck, a hobgoblin who serves as the royal jester to King Auberon of Faerie.

    “Brief Lives” Cast

The “Brief Lives” storyline has Indya Moore (“Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom”) playing Wanda, a professional driver and security agent for an exclusive travel firm. Steve Coogan (“Alan Partridge”) will voice canine companion Barnabas, who is both man’s best friend and sharpest critic.

They will be joined by the previously announced Esmé Creed-Miles as Delirium, Adrian Lester as Destiny, and Barry Sloane as “The Prodigal.” The trio are the remaining members of “The Endless,” who play an important role in both storylines.

Season 2 will see the return of Kirby Howell-Baptiste as Death, Mason Alexander Park as Desire, Donna Preston as Despair, and Sturridge as Dream. Along with Patton Oswalt as Matthew the Raven, Vivienne Acheampong as Lucienne, Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer Morningstar, Jenna Coleman as Johanna Constantine, Ferdinand Kingsley as Hob Gadling, Stephen Fry as Gilbert, Asim Chaudhry as Abel, Sanjeev Bhaskar as Cain, Vanesu Samunyai as Rose Walker, and Razane Jammal as Lyta Hall.
