Amazon MGM Studios has confirmed filmmaker Justin Lin (“Fast and the Furious,” “Star Trek Beyond”) will direct crime thriller “Stakehorse.” This is the first feature-length script for Justin Piasecki, but it made such a stir it topped 2023’s Black List. A project that surveys hundreds of Hollywood film industry executives about their favorite unproduced screenplays from that calendar year. Then compile that data into a list to showcase these works.

The full plot for “Stakehorse” is still being kept in the stable. The film will center around a horse veterinarian who moonlights doing medical work for criminals. Some sources are already comparing it tonally to 2010’s “The Town,” directed by and starring Ben Affleck.
Lin will produce “Stakehorse” under his Perfect Storm Entertainment banner, alongside Todd Lieberman and Alex Young of Hidden Pictures. Perfect Storm’s Andrew Schneider and Sal Gatdula are attached to executive produce.
Lin’s Other Upcoming Projects
Lin is currently working on his passion project, “Last Days” which is set to begin shooting in Thailand at the end of April. He is actively developing the thriller “Two for the Money” starring Charlize Theron and Daniel Craig for Apple. As well as Sony’s adaptation of the popular manga “One Punch Man,” which has Dan Harmon (“Community”) and Heather Anne Campbell (“AKO”) penning the script.
We will keep you posted on updates about “Stakehorse,” as they become available.
