Even if you’ve never seen an episode of classic-era tv series “Bewitched,” chances are you’ve at least heard the theme song. It’s catchy as hell, and makes an excellent ringtone. (Ask me how I know!) Or, perhaps you’re familiar with the iconic nose twitch of star Elizabeth Montgomery as the titular witch, Samantha Stevens. There’s also, of course, the mother of all mother-in-laws, Agnes Morehead as Endora.

I digress. As it’s one of my favorite shows of that era, I am strangely…interested? excited?…about the idea of yet-another reboot attempt. Yes, we had that Will Ferrell, Nicole Kidman flick that made some pretty baffling choices. “Black-ish” creator Kenya Barri actually sold what she pitched as an “interracial” version of the show to ABC in 2018 (that never happened). And yes, there was another film based on the show being adapted by Sony back in 2021. But, that one looks like it stalled out somewhere along the way.
What we have now is news that Judalina Neira, fresh on her overall deal with Sony Pictures Television, is working on developing “Bewitched.” Neira is reportedly aiming for hour-long episodes, which is a departure from the 30-minute sitcom format. Most recently, she executively produced the upcoming “The Boys” season 4, as well as Prime Video’s “Daisy Jones & The Six.”
We’ll let you know what we hear about this and other news. Let the fan-casting begin!
