We are very pleased to report that cameras are indeed rolling on STARZ “Outlander” spin off series, “Blood of My Blood.” Not only that, but we know who will star! The series will tell the tale of the parents of Jaime (Sam Heughan) and Claire Fraser (Caitriona Balfe), with their own epic love stories and adventures.
Harriet Slater will play Ellen Mackenzie, sister of Colum and Dougal Mackenzie of the Leoch clan. Jaime Roy will play Black Brian Fraser, son of Lord Lovat, and keeper of Lallybroch. (From Ellen and Brian come Jamie and Jenny!) Their story will take place in 18th century Scotland, and we honestly can’t wait to see the ‘kidnapping’
Hermione Corfield (“We Hunt Together“) will play Julia Moriston, and Jeremy Irvine (Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again) will play Henry Beauchamp, Claire’s parents. We’ll see them probably during WWI in England. No word about who may play Uncle Lamb, but we’re really hoping to get some of him, too.
“We’re thrilled to be telling the stories of these two couples,” showrunner of both “Outlander” and “Blood of My Blood” Matthew B. Roberts said. “The origins of their relationships explore universal themes that transcend time periods, and we’re so excited for fans to discover and fall in love with these characters and their love stories the way they have with Claire and Jamie.”
Roberts will executive produce along with Ronald D. Moore and Maril Davis. Original “Outlander” series author Diana Gabaldon is involved as a consulting producer.
We know cameras are rolling now, but we’re not sure when they’re hoping to air this series. The back half of “Outlander” season 7 will hit STARZ sometime later this year. The 8th and final season will arrive sometime after that.
