Based on the critically acclaimed video game, HBO’s “The Last of Us” takes place 20 years after the collapse of modern civilization due to a pandemic. It follows Joel (Pedro Pascal), who is hired to smuggle 14-year-old Ellie (Bella Ramsey) out of an oppressive quarantine zone. It has been an awards season darling, and it’s upcoming second season just gained a pretty great cast member.
Catherine O’Hara (“Beetlejuice,” “Schitt’s Creek“) has reportedly signed on!

But of course, when you are dealing with the apocalypse what should be a straightforward job never is. The duo is soon launched into a brutal, heartbreaking journey, as they must navigate the apocalyptic US. All while learning to depend on each other for survival.
O’Hara will be joining “The Last of Us” cast alongside Kaitlyn Dever (“No One Will Save You”), Isabela Merced (“Madame Web”), and Young Mazino (“Beef”). While O’Hara’s role is currently unknown Dever will play soldier Abby. Merced is cast as Dina, a free spirit whose devotion to Ellie will be tested by the brutal world they now live in. Mazino will portray Jesse, a man willing to put everyone else’s needs before his own, no matter the cost.

“The Last of Us” is expected to start shooting its second season this spring, hitting HBO sometime in 2025. We’ll keep you posted on updates as they become available.
