Whoever first said “love is pain” probably didn’t mean something like this. A24 Films has released the first trailer for their bodybuilding revenge thriller “Love Lies Bleeding,” directed by Rose Glass (“Saint Maud”). The film is set to star Kristen Stewart (“Crimes of the Future”), Katy M. O’Brian (“The Mandalorian”), and Ed Harris (“Westworld”).
“Love Lies Bleeding,” centers around Lou (Stewart) a withdrawn gym owner who falls madly in love with bodybuilder Jackie (O’Brian). Jackie is just passing through on her way to Las Vegas, but things go awry when the couple is pulled into Lou’s criminal family. The gun-toting clan is led by Lou’s father (Harris) who has the FBI on his tail. This sparks a whirlwind of shootouts, disposing of dead and mostly dead bodies, spliced between love scenes. Eventually leading to Lou turning her back on her father by threatening to “tell them everything you did.”
We aren’t sure how this all came to be or where it will end, but color us curious. The film also stars Dave Franco (“Day Shift”), Jena Malone (“Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire”), and Anna Baryshnikov (“Dickinson”).
