Prime Video has released the first teaser for its upcoming “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” series, along with more additions to the cast. It stars Donald Glover and Maya Erskine as the aforementioned Mr. and Mrs., and aims to retell the 2005 film.

Newly announced cast members include Alexander Skarsgård, Eiza González, Sarah Paulson, Sharon Horgan, Ron Perlman, Billy Campbell, and Úrsula Corberó. They join Wagner Moura, Paul Dano, Michaela Coel, John Turturro, and Parker Posey.

“Mr. and Mrs. Smith” is based on the 2005 film of the same name starring Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. It will follow two lonely strangers who land jobs working for a mysterious spy agency. If espionage wasn’t enough the agency also gives them a life of wealth, world travel, and a dream brownstone in Manhattan. The only catch is they must assume new identities with an arranged marriage as Mr. and Mrs. John and Jane Smith. Each week the couple will take on a new high-risk mission while facing a new relationship milestone. Their complex cover story becomes even more complicated when they catch real feelings for each other. What’s riskier: espionage or marriage?

Glover is co-creating the series with Francesca Sloane, the duo previously teamed up on the show “Atlanta.” “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” is part of the pair’s overall deal with Amazon. They are also serving as executive producers with Sloane acting as showrunner. New Regency’s Yariv Milchan, Arnon Milchan, and Michael Schaefer will also executive produce with Stephen Glover, Anthony Katagas, Hiro Murai, and Nate Matteson.

“Mr. and Mrs. Smith” hits Prime Video February 2nd, 2024. You can check out the teaser below:
