Between the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, most big-budget films and tv shows halted production. Some projects continued under interim agreements, which meant the studios making them followed fair contracts with both unions. Both strikes have now come to an end, so we’ll theoretically see production start to pick up again.
With this in mind, it’s not surprising to see the Walt Disney Company announcing new theatrical dates for four upcoming Marvel Studios films. Below are the confirmed current schedule changes:
“Deadpool 3“
The highly anticipated third Deadpool film has moved from May 3rd, 2024 to July 26th, 2024. We know you all are really hyped for Dogpool, it’ll just take a little bit longer.
“Captain America: Brave New World”
The latest installment of Captain America‘s story has moved from July 26th, 2024 to February 14th, 2025. A move we are pretty sure is to keep Cap from squaring off against the Merch With a Mouth at the box office.
“Thunderbolts”
This ensemble film about a group of supervillains being recruited to go on missions for the government was originally set to hit theaters on December 20th, 2024. “Thunderbolts” will now hit July 25th, 2025.
“Blade”
The long-awaited “Blade” reboot has gotten yet another new release date, moving from February 14th, 2025 to November 7th, 2025. We guess this means nerds will have to find something else to do on Valentine’s Day. Yann Demange is still attached to direct from a script by Michael Starrbury. Oscar winner Mahershala Ali will star as the daywalker. He’ll be joined by Mia Goth.
We’ll keep you posted on updates about these Marvel Studios feature films as they become available.
