Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige is cancelling his trip to a galaxy far, far away. Feige has confirmed his “Star Wars” project will not be moving forward. He will instead be focusing on the dozens of MCU films and tv shows currently running and in development.

This revelation came during an interview at the Las Vegas premiere of “The Marvels.” When asked about if his long-gestating entry into the “Star Wars” universe would be happening, he responded with a very short and succinct answer. “No.”
Feige has been developing the project since at least 2019. “I love that world and I love the notion of exploring new people and new places in that universe,” he said at the time. In January 2021, “Loki” creator Michael Waldron was brought on to write the script. Until now, it seemed like things were still quietly moving forward.
This Feige-led project joins the dead David Benioff and DB Weiss (“Game of Thrones”) trilogy, and the Patty Jenkins-directed “Rogue Squadron” film (which she still says could happen).

Lucasfilm is still moving forward with a feature film with Daisy Ridley returning as Rey, directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy (“Ms. Marvel”), and written by Steven Knight (“Peaky Blinders“). There are also films from Dave Filoni (which may or may not be “Heir to the Empire”), and James Mangold (“Logan”) on the docket. Both Taika Waititi and Rian Johnson also have projects that are still in flux as well.
We’ll keep you posted on these and other projects in the “Star Wars” universe as they become available.
