An untitled original “Peanuts” feature film is currently in development for Apple. The project is being worked on by WildBrain and Peanuts Worldwide. WildBrain studios is set to begin production in 2024 on the new family film. The film will see the Peanuts gang on an epic adventure in the Big City, learning the true meaning of friendship along the way. The gang will also meet some surprising new friends on this adventure.

The script was co-written by Karey Kirkpatrick and based on an original story written by Craig Schulz, Bryan Schulz, and Cornelius Uliano. The trio of writers wrote the 2015 feature film “The Peanuts Movie.” That movie was directed by Steve Martino, who will also direct the new film. Two-time Oscar nominee Bonnie Arnold will serve as producer for the new film. This film will be the first time Apple partners with WildBrain and Peanuts Worldwide for a project.

“Fans of all ages have been enamored with Peanuts on Apple TV+,” said Apple’s head of children’s programing, Tara Sorensen. “With our unmatched library of Peanuts titles, and award-winning collection of stories that bring kids and families together, Apple TV+ is the preeminent home for Snoopy and friends, and offers a world class selection of series and films featuring the most globally cherished animated characters. We can’t wait for everyone to experience this heartwarming new adventure with Snoopy, Charlie Brown and the gang in the Big City.”

“It is so special to carry on my father’s legacy with an original story from me, my son Bryan, and his writing partner Neil,” said Charles Schulz. “We are excited to be partnering with Apple TV+ and working with WildBrain Studios to bring audiences a brand-new Peanuts adventure, along with the talented Bonnie Arnold as producer and Steve Martino as director. Peanuts fans have been clamoring for another feature for years, and this film will bring joy to out millions of fans around the world.”

This new feature film will serve as a sign that Apple is still in the animation game. Apple and Skydance Animation’s deal recently expired, with Skydance going on to partner with Netflix. Apple TV+ is the current home for the largest collection of the Peanuts gang. It features original animated series and specials, including the iconic Mendelson/Melendez Productions holiday specials. “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving” will be available to watch in a free window from November 18th to 19th, 2023.
