We are delighted to share the news straight from the source’s mouth-
Emmy winning composer Bear McCreary is scoring Disney+’s upcoming “Percy Jackson” series, along with his creative team from Sparks & Shadows. This is very exciting news!
“I was especially excited to be a part of the new Percy Jackson series because it gave me the opportunity to embrace the kind of sweeping, melodically-driven orchestral scores that inspired me as a kid,” McCreary told us. “Writing distinct and memorable themes for each character was a joy. I can’t wait for fans to hear what we came up with!”
The cast for the show includes Walker Scobell as Percy, Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth, Aryan Simhadri as Grover, Megan Mullally as Mrs. Dodds, Virginia Kull as Sally Jackson (Percy’s mom), Timm Sharp as Gabe Ugliano (Percy’s stepfather), Jason Mantzoukas as Dionysius, Glynn Turman as Mr. Brunner, Adam Copeland as Ares, Suzanne Cryer as Echidna, Jessica Parker Kennedy as Medusa, Lance Reddick as Zeus, Lin-Manuel Miranda as Hermes, and Toby Stephens as Poseidon.
Author Rick Riordan is VERY involved with the series, and has been nothing but excited and supportive of the project. Filming on season one officially wrapped back in February.
“Percy Jackson and the Olympians” hits Disney+ December 20th, 2023. Check out the teaser now:
