The newest addition to the “Law & Order” universe, “Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent,” has announced an all-Canadian cast. The series will follow two elite detectives from the Specialized Criminal Investigations unit. While they explore and dissect high-profile crimes and homicides in metro Toronto.
“Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent,” has cast Aden Young (“Rectify”), as Detective Sergeant Henry Graff, Kathleen Munroe (“City on Fire”) as Detective Sergeant Frankie Bateman, and Karen Robinson (“Schitt’s Creek”) as Inspector Vivienne Holness. With K.C. Collins (“The Cleaning Lady”) as Deputy Crown Attorney Theo Forrester, Nicola Correia-Damude (“Shadowhunters”) as Forensic Pathologist Dr. Lucy Da Silva, and Araya Mengesha (“Nobody”) as tech expert Mark Yohannes.
The 10-part series is produced by Lark Productions and Cameron Pictures for Citytv. Tassie Cameron will serve as showrunner and executive producer alongside Erin Haskett, Amy Cameron, David Valleau, Alex Patrick, and Holly Dale.
It will join the other installments based on the original Dick Wolf-created series. Including three current series, “Law & Order,” “Law & Order: SVU,” and “Law & Order: Organized Crime.” There was also “Law & Order: UK,” which ran for eight seasons.
And while “Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent,” seems to be the only new addition to the universe. There are still calls to revive the third longest-running series in the franchise, “Law & Order: Criminal Intent,” which ran for 10 seasons. Star Vincent D’Onofrio has been a vocal supporter of a revival. Or he at least wants him and co-star Kathryn Erbe to reprise their roles in an existing series.
“Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent,” is currently filming in Toronto, and is set to air in spring 2024. We’ll keep you posted on updates about the new series as they become available.
