These specials will see the return of the 14th Doctor (David Tennant), alongside his companion Donna Noble (Catherine Tate). The duo originally portrayed these characters from 2005 to 2010. But they aren’t the only “Doctor Who” legacy characters returning to the series.

Harris will portray The Toymaker, an all-powerful enemy who was last seen on the series in 1966. Kate Lethbridge-Stewart (Jemma Redgrave) will also be returning as Chief Scientific Officer and Head of UNIT.

But the 60th anniversary of “Doctor Who” won’t just be about looking back at the past. During the airing of the three specials, the first episode with the 15th Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) will also premiere. Making this anniversary just as much about the future of the series as it is celebrating what its already accomplished.

And this “is just the start, as the fever starts to burn,” promises Showrunner Russell T Davie.  “We’re heading for a November full of Doctor Who surprises, for fans and new viewers alike. Stay alert!”

Outside of the UK and Ireland, Disney+ will be the exclusive home for new seasons of “Doctor Who.” The series and specials will air on the BBC in the UK and Ireland.

Three special episodes of “Doctor Who” featuring the Fourteenth Doctor to coincide with the 60th anniversary will release in November of 2023. Check out the trailer now:
