“Frasier” Revival Gets Official First Trailer

Three weeks ago, a little teaser about “Frasier” and its long awaited revival arrived. It wasn’t a huge reveal or anything, it was just a little continuous line drawing of Frasier Crane and some references to his adventures in Seattle. We were also treated to hearing Kelsey Grammer sing a new version of “Tossed Salads and Scrambled Eggs.” While it was nice to find out confirmation that, yes, the show is coming soon, it didn’t really show us what to expect.

But now, we’ve got an actual honest-to-goodness trailer!

    “Frasier” – Paramount+

We’ve come to know a lot over the last year or so about what to expect from this revival. We know Frasier has moved to Boston, and is reconnecting with his son, Freddy. We also know that he’ll be interacting with his ex-wife Lilith, played by the amazing Bebe Neuwirth. For some reason, David Crane, child of Frasier’s brother Niles (David Hyde Pierce) and Daphne (Jane Leeves), will be hanging around. Also Freddy’s roommate Eve will be some kind of foil for Frasier. Well, a foil who will somehow also serve as a kind of connection to the real world and the modern generation? Which in a way, kind of sounds like what Roz was doing in the original run of the show.

Oh by the way, Peri Gilpin iscoming back to play Roz.

Instead of a radio station with wacky co-workers, Frasier seems to be involved with a university at which an old college friend of his, Alan, works at alongside Olivia, the head of the university’s psych department. It’s an interesting assortment of characters, and you can already see parallels forming between the new cast and the old. Freddy working a blue-collar job as a firefighter is a direct throwback to Frasier’s father Martin (the late John Mahoney) working as a police officer. And while the aforementioned roommate, Eve, seems to draw some influence from Roz, there’s also some Daphne influence in there too. Meanwhile, Alan could take on some Niles type qualities while also serving as a substitute for some of the KACL staff alongside Olivia.

Check out the video for yourself and we’ll be able to see how this new chapter of Frasier’s life unfolds when the revival premieres on Paramount+ October 12th.
