Actress Isabella Gomez (“One Day at a Time,” “The Goldbergs”) will star in the indie horror film “The Mannequin.” It is written and directed by John Berardo (“Initiation”), with production beginning in Los Angeles next week.
“The Mannequin” will tell the story of Liana Rojas (Gomez), a stylist assistant that is also creatively starved. She discovers the historic downtown Los Angeles building, where her sister mysteriously died, is haunted. Its halls being inhabited by the specter of a serial killer who brutally murdered and dismembered his victims there half a century prior. This information causes Liana and her friends to summon the vengeful spirit. Now they must find a way to free themselves and escape the sinister ghost before they lose their own body parts.
The film will also star Lindsay LaVanchy (“Initiation”) as Hazel Miller, a nurturing leader and Liana’s friend. Shireen Lai (“Rocky’s Galaxy”) as Nadine Yang, a newlywed and posh friend of Liana. Maxwell Hamilton (“Throwing Shade”) as Peter Adler, Liana’s ex-boyfriend who just so happens to be a paranormal investigator. Gabriella Rivera (“Mr. Student Body President”) as Sophia Rojas, Liana’s sister as well as a determined fashion designer. Along with Jack Sochet (“Smile”) as Jack Bernard, a sadistic photographer and serial killer.
Hamilton will also serve as producer on “The Mannequin” along with Ashley Rosenberg.
This project will be shooting under the SAG-AFTRA Ultra Low Budget Agreement, so it does not violate any strike guidelines. It has already been added to the list of projects receiving an interim agreement from the guild.
