National Cinema Day: “Super Mario Bros. Movie” and More for $4

Sometimes we’d love to see some movies, but our wallets just can’t justify it at the time. Well, if you’d like to catch up on titles for only four bucks a pop, you might want to reserve some seats for National Cinema Day. On August 27th, several popular titles will be included in the special deal, like “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” and “Barbie.”

The cinematic event is sure to fill seats, so it might be smart to get tickets now. And it’s not just returning titles, either. According to the The Cinema Foundation, it’s all showings of every type all day long. So a grand opportunity to see some titles missed or simply get a discount on movies you wanted to see.

Margot Robbie “Barbie” Warner Bros. Pictures

“Following the rousing success of the first annual National Cinema Day, we welcome everyone to join us for the communal experience of one of America’s favorite pastimes — moviegoing,” Jackie Brenneman, President of the Cinema Foundation, said. “We look forward to gathering at the movies and celebrating an exciting slate of new releases and classics, from beloved family favorites and outrageous comedies to thought-provoking dramas and thrilling adventures. There’s something for everyone. Let’s all go!”

“The Super Mario Bros. Movie” Universal, Illumination

This is only the second National Cinema Day. For being a fairly new event, over 3,000 theaters are participating this year. If you do that math, that’s over 30,000 screening rooms available for only four bucks a movie! The only sad part? That’s roughly how much movie tickets cost in the 90s. Only thirty years ago, the most expensive movie ticket was about five dollars. So best take advantage of the event while you can!
