Remember when we told you Kurt and Wyatt Russell were going to star in Apple TV+’s upcoming “Godzilla” continuation series? Yeah, so, about that- it’s now called “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters,” and we know a bit more about the plot.
Wyatt will be playing the younger version of his dad Kurt’s character, Army officer Lee Shaw.
When we see Wyatt as Shaw, it’ll be as a young man in the 1950s. Kurt’s version of Shaw will be from around 2014’s Godzilla.
Chris Black (“Star Trek: Enterprise“) and Matt Fraction (“Hawkeye“) co-developed the series. Matt Shakman (“Wandavision“) directs the first two episodes. Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, Anders Holm, Joe Tippett, and Elisa Lasowski also star.
While we don’t have a release date yet, we DO have a series description of sorts. Following the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco and the shocking revelation that monsters are real, “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” tracks two siblings following in their father’s footsteps to uncover their family’s connection to the secretive organization known as Monarch. Clues lead them into the world of monsters and ultimately down the rabbit hole to Army officer Lee Shaw (played by Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell), taking place in the 1950s and half a century later where Monarch is threatened by what Shaw knows. The dramatic saga – spanning three generations – reveals buried secrets and the ways that epic, earth-shattering events can reverberate through our lives.
