ITN Studios, distributor behind the cult sensation “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey,” have released some first look images for its new project, “Cinderella’s Curse.” The film is being produced and directed by Louisa Warren, and stars Kelly Rian Sanson, Chrissie Wunna, and Danielle Scott. Harry Boxley (“Mary Had A Little Lamb“) wrote the script.

“Cinderella’s Curse” is going to be a spine-chilling reimagining of the classic fairytale. Filming has begun in the United Kingdom, the images released show Sanson with the iconic blonde ringlets. The twist is that this time they are covered in sweat and gorey grime. Another released image depicts a woman wearing a white mask covered in blood and wielding  a weapon.

Other images released include Sanson staring at something horror-stricken and the iconic glass slipper splattered with blood. The images released were by ChampDog Films, who are producing the upcoming horror thriller that is set to hit the silver screen this October.

“This is an incredible unique spin on the Cinderella we all know and love,” Warren said. “There are going to be some truly horrific deaths by her hands. I think the gore hounds are in for a treat in my dark retelling.”

As more classic fairytale characters enter the public domain, it is very interesting to see the dark reimaginings that are being produced. “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey” shocked the world when it was released earlier this year, grossing over $5 million worldwide. The horror re-telling of the beloved characters saw the “silly old bear” go on a gore-filled murder spree with the normally shy Piglet.

Personally I’m going to give this darker take on the classic fairytale a shot. The stills released today are intriguing and I just can’t help but wonder how the story is going to play out. “Cinderella’s Curse” doesn’t have a set release date yet, but should hit sometime in October. We’ll let you know what we hear about this and other news.
