Neil Gaiman Says “Good Omens” Could Continue Past Season 2

Ever since the announcement of a Season 2 for “Good Omens,” we’ve been on the edge of our seats. Desperate to see more from our favorite angel and demon duo. The idea of a second season was enough of a surprise. But, as it turns out, this might not be where it stops! Even “The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Anges Nutter” couldn’t foresee this! According to co-writer of the original novel Neil Gaiman, he and Terry Pratchett plotted out plans for a sequel. Even more surprising? That ISN’T the material being used for Season 2! WHAT?!?

Gaiman recently elaborated on the plans he and Terry had for more adventures with the realms of heaven and hell. Apparently this upcoming season will serve as a connection point between the first season and the third, SHOULD the series be greenlit for another. Which would in essence make a possible third season the sequel Pratchett and Gaiman had planned for.

“Because the hypothetical season three exists, there is a story that is there, and I didn’t feel that we could drive straight from season one into that…I knew what the stakes were,” Gaiman recently told SFX. “I knew what the parameters were. I also knew that I had David [Tennant] and Michael [Sheen]. I had the angels from plot number one. I had demons from plot number one. And with anybody that I wanted to bring back, but didn’t have room for right now, I did not have to bring them back as themselves.”

This is astounding and surprising news and now we’re all crossing our fingers and toes that a third season is greenlit. Gaiman is whetting our appetites for dessert and the second course hasn’t even been served yet! Though fans won’t have to wait long.

Season 2 of “Good Omens” hits Prime Video July 28th, 2023. Season 1 is currently streaming.
