Ever since Disney announced a live-action adaptation of their animated film “Lilo & Stitch,” there have been rumors about some of the original voice cast returning. Recently Jason Scott Lee, who voiced David and his fancy hair, confirmed that he would have a cameo in the upcoming film.

“I got a little, small [part],” Lee said on the “Kyle Meredith With…” podcast. “They threw me some bones, and I said, ‘Yeah, absolutely! In any capacity. I just wanted to be a part of it, so it’s a three-day cameo, and I think it will be fun.”

He then went on the reveal specific details about his role in the new “Lilo & Stitch.” So heads up if you don’t want any spoilers.

“I’m playing the luau manager,” Lee explained. “I get to see the kid that’s playing my character that I voiced, David. And I’ll get to see Lilo and I’ll get see Nani, the new people, the actors that are playing them. So it’ll be fun.”

As some may recall, in the 2002 animated “Lilo & Stitch,” David did a fire dance in the luau scene. But when Stitch causes some chaos, the manager fires Nani (Tia Carrere).

It is also believed that Carrere and Amy Hill (who voiced Mrs. Hasagawa in the original film) will return. But there haven’t been any specifics on who they may play in the new  “Lilo & Stitch.” It has been confirmed that Chris Sanders will be reprising his role as the ball of mayhem that is Stitch.

In this live-action adaptation, Kaipo Dudoit will play David, Maia Kealoha is playing Lilo,  Zach Galifianakis is Dr. Jumba Jookiba, Sydney Agudong is Nani, and Courtney B. Vance is Cobra Bubbles. The film is directed by Dean Fleischer Camp (“Marcel the Shell with Shoes On”), from a script by Chris Kekaniokalani Bright (“Tsuru”).

“Lilo & Stitch” is currently shooting in Oahu, Hawaii. The film currently doesn’t have a release date but is expected to come directly to Disney+. We’ll keep you posted on updates about this project as they biome available.
