“Sons of Anarchy” and “Marvel’s Luke Cage” star Theo Rossi has joined the cast of “The Penguin.” The upcoming HBO Max series centers around the infamous Batman villain portrayed by Colin Farrell in Matt Reeves‘ “The Batman.”

Rossi’s casting follows the recent addition of Michael Zegen, James Madio, and Scott Cohen to the series. While details regarding their roles remain undisclosed, Zegen is rumored to play the role of Alberto Falcone, son of notorious Gotham City mob boss Carmine Falcone (John Turturro). In the comics, Alberto takes on the mantle of The Holiday Killer.
The Penguin, also known as Oswald ‘Oz’ Cobblepot, is one of Batman’s most well-known adversaries. His unique appearance, including his rotund physique, top hat, monocle, and long nose, has been portrayed on-screen by actors such as Burgess Meredith, Danny DeVito, and Robin Lord Taylor.

“The Penguin” is set in the same universe as “The Batman.” Colin Farrell is set to reprise his role as the DC Comics character. Cristin Milioti has also recently joined the cast as Sofia Falcone, the daughter of Gotham City mob boss Carmine Falcone. Clancy Brown will play Salvatore Maroni. Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Deirdre O’Connell, and Rhenzy Feliz round out the cast in undisclosed roles.
The first two episodes of “The Penguin” will be directed by “Mare Of Easttown‘s” Craig Zobel, while Lauren LeFranc (“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” “Chuck“) serves as writer and show-runner. Colin Farrell, along with Reeves and producer Dylan Clark, will serve as an executive producer on the series.

“The Batman” was released in theaters in March 2022. The film earned $770.8 million worldwide, making it the fifth highest-grossing movie of the year. Reeves is currently working on the movie’s sequel and is writing its script alongside Mattson Tomlin.
