If you’ve been following our coverage of the “Frasier” revival, you’ll know that one of our recurring side-notes has been about the potential presence of Lilith Sternin. Played by Bebe Neuwirth since “Cheers” season 4, Lilith is Frasier’s ex-wife. Canonically, Lilith remained in Boston after Frasier left for Seattle. This has led to the potential for the two characters to reunite, since Frasier is returning to Boston for this sequel series. Well, looks like we nailed this one because it’s official: Lilith is back.
Neuwirth will indeed reprise her role as Lilith in the “Frasier” revival series, set to premiere on Paramount+. This would also make Neuwirth the first officially returning actor from the previous series besides Kelsey Grammer as Frasier himself. Grammer has previously stated that Frasier’s family (Niles, Daphne, Martin) would not be returning, even though the son of Niles and Daphne would feature in the program. As we also previously reported, Freddy is returning as well but he won’t be portrayed by the same actor from the original run of the show.

She’ll be reuniting with Frasier at a birthday party for their son. Apparently, Lilith has grown extra attached to her son over the years because she’s jealous of having to share Freddy with his father. Those familiar with the show’s canon will remember Lilith had full custody of their son. Freddy would visit Frasier every season or so, with the elder Crane sometimes visiting him.
Last we saw Frasier and Lilith in Season 11, the two had shown themselves to be remarkably strong friends. Even though their marriage had fallen apart years ago, the two still had a great love for each other and their friendship was a powerful one. Perhaps Lilith has grown a bit more embittered in her later years? Maybe Frasier is just really getting on her last nerve again? We’ll have to see how things play out when the series eventually debuts on Paramount+. In the meantime, we look forward to seeing what other casting announcements might come forward. But we’re also kinda freaking out that we’re getting more Lilith.
