    Lizzo Does Surprise Rammstein “Du Hast” Cover in Germany

    Oh Lizzo, what surprises will you continue to delight us with? The accomplished singer and flautist already gave us something to cherish when she played with Cookie Monster (and Elmo) on “Sesame Street.” Her most recent surprise? Doing an off the cuff cover of Rammstein‘s most famous song on a tour stop in Germany. All it took learning a couple of words in German, and the rest is history.

    Lizzo reportedly picked up on the word “Oma,” which means “granny” in English. Now, there are several directions you can musically go after learning a couple of German words. If you want to dive into the heart of the 80s, you can ask your audience, “Alles klar, Herr Kommissar?” Or, perhaps you want to go a bit more synthpop and start asking about those 99 Luftballons.

    Not Lizzo though, she’s going right for the throat and asking “Du Hast?”

    The song was performed on February 20th in Hamburg, Germany. Contrasting Rammstein’s industrial metal classic and Lizzo’s a cappella version. Sadly she doesn’t go through the whole song, but considering she only knows a few words, maybe it would be best not to attempt the versus. Fortunately you only need to know a handful of words to make it through the chorus of “Du Hast.”

    Germany = Rammstein 😭 she had just learned how to say “Oma”, that’s why she incorporated it #lizzo #rammstein #germany #german #funny #concert #thespecialtour #specialtour #tour @lizzo @Rammstein

    Lizzo found her way to a Tiktok upload of the performance to leave a smiling emoji and the word, “Hi.” Seems like she was having fun onstage with the song and continued to be enjoying it with her smiling seal of approval in the comments.

    Props to you Lizzo for having fun and bringing the crowd some laughs. Now maybe we can get a flute rendition of the entire song? Maybe a medley with some “Feuer Frei!” in there for good measure? If anyone can do it Lizzo, it’s you!

    UPDATE-

    She did it again the following night in Hamburg!
