Netflix Live-Action “One Piece” Series Gets 2023 Release

The much anticipated live-action series adaptation of popular manga/anime series “One Piece” will hit Netflix this year! After a pretty mixed reception for the “Cowboy Bebop” series, fans are nervous, to say the least. (We actually didn’t hate “Bebop,” and were very disappointed when Netflix cancelled it after just one season.)

“One Piece” creator Eiichiro Oda has promised Netflix’s show will be “faithful to the fans who have supported One Piece for 20 years,” so hopefully that helps some.

We do know who will star in the series.

    The Cast

Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy
    Emily Rudd as Nami
    Mackenyu Arata as Roronoa Zoro
    Jacob Romero Gibbs as Usopp
    Taz Skylar as Sanji
    Morgan Davies as Koby
    Ilia Isorelýs Paulino as Alvida
    McKinley Blecher as Arlong
    Jeff Ward as Buggy
    Vincent Regan as Garp
    Aidan Scott as Helmeppo
    Peter Gadiot as Shanks
    Jean Henry as Fullbody
    Len-Barry Simons as Chew
    Alexander Maniatis as Klahadore
    Steven Ward as Mihawk
    Craig Fairbrass as Chef Zeff
    Langley Kirkwood as Captain Morgan
    Celeste Loots as Kaya
    Chioma Umeala as Nojiko

And we did get a set sneak peek during Netflix’s Geeked Week.

While it’s not a true release date, we do know “One Piece” will set sail sometime in 2023, only on Netflix.

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.
