Despite hitting Tauntaun internal temperature reviews (that’s Luke-warm for the uninitiated), Disney+ live-action Lucasfilm series “Obi Wan Kenobi” is still a hot topic. From the return of Ewan McGregor as the Jedi Master to Hayden Christensen suiting up as Sith Lord Darth Vader again, it was the stuff of fan’s dreams. Also nightmares, depending on who you talk to.
Scottish star McGregor, among others involved with the series, really, REALLY, want to do another season.
“I was so happy to do it again, and so happy to work with Hayden again,” McGregor told Disney Studios Awards in an interview. “In the old days, I would joke about, ‘There must be a good story to tell between Episode III and VI.’ But, it’s true. I always felt that there was. I feel like Deborah Chow found it and absolutely nailed it…just found the story that we wanted to see between the last one that we did and first that was done.”
Chow directed all 6 episodes of the limited series, which also featured returning “Star Wars” actors Joel Edgerton (Uncle Owen) and Bonnie Piesse (Aunt Beru). And, perhaps more importantly, introduced us to Vivien Lyra Blair as young Princess Leia Organa, and Grant Feely as young Luke Skywalker.
The door was left wide open for additional stories during this time period. “I hope we get the chance to do it again,” McGregor continued.
Us too, Ewan. Us too.
“Obi Wan Kenobi” is currently streaming on Disney+. So is the Disney Gallery episode, “A Jedi’s Return.”
