Wait- Lars Mikkelsen NOT Playing Thrawn in “Ahsoka?!”

We may have just had one of our biggest “Star Wars” live-action series hopes dashed. It had been widely rumored-then-reported Lars Mikkelsen (yes, brother of Mads Mikkelsen) was going to be bringing yet another animated “Rebels” character to Disney+. Lars voiced Grand Admiral Thrawn, notable foil from Timothy Zahn‘s “Heir to the Empire” novel, and it really seemed like he’d be playing the Chiss in “Ahsoka.”

But, that may not be the case after all.

“Well, I haven’t had the offer,” Mikkselsen said when asked about the character’s live-action debut. This…is disappointing. We’d all assumed it was a done deal. Maybe it is, and this is just one of those things actors do.

Would Lars WANT to play Thrawn in the series, led by Rosario Dawson? “Yes, sure.”

    *sigh*

We’ll let you know what else we hear about this and other news. “The Mandalorian” season 3 is set to hit Disney+ on March 1st, 2023. “Ahsoka” will release sometime later this year.

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.
